The community has been an idea of mine, that kept resurfacing and nudging me over the months and years. With a background in online communities, I knew first-hand that it’s possible to create beautiful spaces online for rich, long-format, discussions. And I felt the world needed it more and more.
I attended a Deep Ecology workshop in August 2025 where I mentioned the idea to my newly-formed friends and the positive reaction (literal applause! 
) inspired me to press on. Not long after my Deep Ecology fellow participant, new friend (and now meditation teacher), @MikeKelly and I were whizzing across the water on a ferry to Palm Beach - to meet another DE participant - and Mike told me he wanted to get involved. Music to my ears, as I knew it couldn’t be done alone.
As fate would have it the incredible @johnseed also understood what we were trying to achieve, and knew it aligned with the plans for the Institute of Deep Ecology (IDE). And so, here we are. At this very nascent stage of building something special. Thanks to John & the IDE. And thanks to you for being here. Your presence matters.
